Writing to the Troops in Iraq

Army soldier helping out a friend.I’m totally amazed at the response I am getting by mentioning ideas of writing to the troops over in Iraq. Just look at the wonderful comments left by visitors looking to find pen pals and email friends in the military. Yes, there are some bad things happening over there recently, however there are still thousands of others who need companionship and someone to talk to. I’ve made a list below of places that you can visit to find a military and troop pen pal.

  • To Our Soldiers - A great page at Army.gov that lets you post shout outs to troops.
  • How Can You Help - A collection of ways to help the troops out by sending care packages, presents, phonecards and so on.

  • Operation Dear Abby - A way to send messages to Navy Sailors over in Iraq. Show them you care!

Another thing that I hear about is that soldiers are always asking friends and families (by writing home) to send phone cards. This is probably the most economical way for troops to keep in touch while away from a computer. Take a peek here to purchase phone cards at discount rates:

That’s all I have for today. If you have any links to help others get in touch with the troops, please feel free to post a comment with your suggestions.
