How to Get a Free Cell Phone Charger
No, you don’t have to fill out an offer and have 5 of your closest friends and relatives do the same in order to get a free cell phone charger. This is something that I was able to do this weekend. Here is my story.
I am away on business this week. I packed everything that I could ever want: fresh underwear, laptop batteries, USB drive, cell phone and so on. After five hours of road time I finally arrived at the hotel. I sat down in the lobby and realized that I forgot one crucial thing. My cell phone charger. Well wouldn’t you know it, I had left the thing on over night and had no juice left in the battery.
I am stuck in the Pocono Mountains, so the last thing I want happening is me getting lost somewhere in the mountains, with no cell phone. What the heck was I going to do? I had to be crafty. I looked at my laptop power cord to see if it would fit in the cell phone. Nope, not a good idea either from what I’m told.
After sipping down 5 Earl Grey teas from the hotel lobby I had an epiphany. I felt like Picard, coming up with the master plan to destroy the feringies or whatever the heck they do on that show. I thought to myself, you know, people leave stuff in hotels all the time..I’ve left a pair of nice sunglasses in San Francisco once, maybe someone left a cell phone charger like the one I had a home?
I went to the hotel desk clerk and asked “You wouldn’t happen to have a cell phone charger? I left mine at home.” The clerk then said, “Let me go check my basket.” This guy returned with a laundry basket full of cell phone charges, ones that have been left behind (unlike Kirk Cameron). He took my phone and matched it up with the proper Nokia charger. Please keep in mind that this is not a big hotel, nor is it in a huge metropolitan area. Could you imagine what the cell phone charger stash would look like at a Manhattan Hilton?
Wow, I couldn’t believe it. And to think I had just paid 30 bucks a month ago to replace the old cell phone charger that died.
So there you go, if you ever need a cell phone charger, just walk into your favorite hotel and ask if they have a cell phone charger to replace the one you left at home.
